Credentials That Set Us Apart
All of our clinical doctors are Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Board Certification reflects the highest standards of clinical excellence in our specialty. Achieving it requires completing a rigorous multi-year process that many orthodontists never pursue.
Dr. Gorton’s credentials go further. She has been recognized as a Top 1% Invisalign Provider worldwide since 2006 and was one of only 20 orthodontists in North America selected to pioneer the Invisalign Teen program.
She was part of the global team who developed the Invisalign First gentle expansion protocol for young children and has published this research in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics. Also a pioneer in custom braces, she spent years as part of a brainstorming group that led to the manufacture of the earliest custom braces and has published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics on preventing decay around braces. She has been asked to share her knowledge in presentations to other doctors both nationally and internationally.
Additionally, Dr. Gorton is a member of the Schulman Study Group, one of the most selective peer organizations in American orthodontics. Founded in 1982, it brings together the top independent orthodontic practices in the country, chosen for a commitment to be leaders in the specialty. Members share outcomes, challenge each other’s thinking, and hold one another accountable in ways that make every participating practice better. Membership is by invitation only and reflects recognition by peers.

Every Treatment Plan Is Doctor-Designed
At Marin Ortho, every treatment plan is built by the doctors. For Invisalign, Dr. Gorton uses the merge of your CBCT with your digital scan to see your true bone and root structure, going well beyond what a standard scan reveals. She then modifies the plan movement by movement, applying her knowledge of expression rates for different types of tooth movement, staging complex movements in phases, and placing attachments only where necessary.
Our doctors personally review every treatment plan and stay involved in patient care throughout treatment, even beyond the clinic, including availability through email and online meetings.
At the Forefront Since Before It Was Mainstream
Marin Ortho has been among the earliest adopters of nearly every significant advance in orthodontic technology, because our patients deserve the most accurate, comfortable, and effective care available at every moment. We introduced 3D CBCT digital X-rays to all new patient planning in 2005, were among the first practices in the country to offer Invisalign in 1999, and have continued to adopt innovations in remote monitoring,
Custom prescription braces, self-ligating braces, 3D scanning, 3D printing, bone biology acceleration, and soft tissue laser treatment as each became available. Every technology we adopt serves a specific clinical purpose for our patients.

Our practice has been part of Marin County for over 20 years, long enough to have treated patients who now bring in their own children. Always Accessible
Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Our doctors return calls and emails personally and someone is always available if something truly cannot wait until the next business day. We also offer virtual care for patients who cannot easily come into the office and online meetings with Dr. Gorton for complex cases.
Rooted in This Community
We are proud to give back to the communities across Marin County, especially the underserved. Marin Ortho provided free orthodontic treatment to teens selected by the Marin County Dental Care Foundation for many years and Dr. Gorton volunteered at Marin Community Clinics, offering early intervention for children and general dentistry services for pregnant women. We provide financial support and dental education to local schools, sponsor athletic teams, and donate to enrichment programs throughout the county.
